The thing that interests me most outside of the prominent seafaring setting, is the bookend string-pulling of gruesomely dispatched King Leonidas’ wife, Queen Gorgo (Lena Heady), who sets about forming an army of angry Greeks, and Queen Artemisia (Eva Green), ally of Xerxes and his Persian horde, of which said Greeks intend to defeat. Both women do far more than move human chess pieces; these ladies are here to fight, and that’s kinda great. - See more at: http://filmschoolrejects.com/news/300-rise-of-an-empire-trailer-3.php#sthash.kwVOkJka.dpuf

Last month, DreamWorks Studios announced it had picked up the film rights to Electronic Arts' flagship racing franchise Need for Speed, revealing that a movie based on the series wouldn't enter production until 2013. Despite that, according to Deadline, DreamWorks has announced a firm release date for the untitled film: February 7, 2014. Disney will distribute the film worldwide upon release.
.Wacth Need for Speed online free
The Need for Speed film is being described by EA as "a fast-paced, high-octane film rooted in the tradition of the great car culture films of the '70s while being extremely faithful to the spirit of the video game franchise.
"The project will not be based on any single game in the series.
Directing the film will be Scott Waugh, who's best known for helming Act of Valor, a military movie starring active-duty US Navy SEALs. Possibly more relevant to the Need for Speed project will be Waugh's experience on stunt crews for dozens of films, including Torque, The Italian Job, and Biker Boyz.Wacth Need for Speed online free
Waugh will be filming a screenplay penned by George Gatins, the executive producer of DreamWorks' 2010 comedy She's Out of My League. Gatins developed the Need for Speed film's story with his brother John, who is producing the film and also wrote the scripts for Real Steel and the upcoming Flight.

Next month, he revs the engine of Disney’s Need for Speed, a big-budget action movie based on the popular videogame. But before Paul shifts into the Hollywood fast-lane, he returns to the Sundance Film Festival for Hellion,
a gritty drama about a family on the verge of disintegration.
He plays Hollis, a recent widower who hasn’t recovered from his wife’s passing and as a result, is failing as a father to his two young sons (Josh Wiggins and Deke Garner.) When the eldest, Jacob, gets into trouble with the law, Child Protection Services moves in and places him with his aunt, played by Juliette Lewis.
Hollis has to put his life back together, quickly, if he has any chance of keeping his boys together.
Hellion was written and directed by Kay Candler, and it’s appropriate that it’s premiering at Sundance. Two years ago, she debuted a short-film version of Hellion at the festival; and took special notice of Paul’s well-received turn in Smashed, which won a Special Jury Prize.

Together, they embarked on a truly independent project, one that only ever gets made because passionate people insist on it. “We didn’t really get paid for this.
No one did,” says Paul. “We did it because we loved it. We all knew that we were part of something special.
It was a small crew, maybe 30 people. One of our producer’s parents were making food for us, you know, lunches and dinner. It was just such a sweet project, and we were just making a film that we all believed in.” Wacth Need for Speed online free
In addition to the quartet of exclusive photos from Hellion, Paul spoke to EW about playing a father figure, his upcoming Netflix cartoon, and what his first reaction was to the idea of a movie based on a video game.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: Hellion is based on a short that was at Sundance two years ago, the same festival that you had Smashed in competition. Did you meet Kat Candler then or did you connect with her later?
AARON PAUL: We actually never met then, but I think James Ponsoldt had seen her short and they sort of got to know each the last couple years during the festival circuits. James was our fearless leader on Smashed, so after the script and her short film was sent to me, I got an incredible letter of recommendation from him.

I respect James so much, so whatever he says to me rings true in my ears.
I saw the short film and read the script and I just thought it was such a beautifully honest story.
I set up a meeting with Kat and she flew out to Macon, Ga., where I was shooting [Need for Speed] at the time.
Within two minutes, I knew I had to work with her. She just exuded such just love and passion and excitement for the project. So yeah, it was a no-brainer for me. I told her over milkshakes, I was like, “I have to do this. Let’s make this movie together and see what happens.”

I know some folks who have seen the movie and they can’t stop talking about Josh Wiggins, who plays your eldest son. This is his first film and he seems to have just come out of nowhere.
He did come out of nowhere. And we are so unbelievably lucky that we found him. I think he was just hanging out at a dirt-bike track in Texas.
The character he plays, Jacob, is a big dirt-bike racer and he was just hanging out and Kat was there, kind of scouting, recruiting people to come in to audition for this film. Working with him on set, he’d just get lost in the moment. He just transports himself there.

I think he has the same take as I do; he forces himself to believe that the situations are actually happening to him. And that’s the goal, right? Get lost in it and forget that you’re acting.
That’s what he does always. People are going to be just blown away by his performance. He is incredible.
Obviously, you have to relate to your character, but did you also connect with the boys, who are kind of running amok. Was your childhood similar to theirs in any sense?
Wacth Need for Speed online free
Not really. I had a very loving upbringing. Both my parents were always constantly there for me. But I could identify, or at least I thought I could, relate to these kids. I could just understand why they’re doing what they’re doing. They’re rebelling because they lost their mother, and they father is just emotionally absent. He’s just not there. He’s checked out. So Jacob, he’s rebelling, he’s becoming chaotic and the hellion that we speak of in the film. Wacth Need for Speed online free

After Sundance, I suppose you’ll focus on Need for Speed?
Yeah, I’m very excited about that film. I think it’s going to surprise a lot of people. I think a lot of people are thinking, “Oh, another car movie.
”They’re going to compare it to Fast and the Furious, but you know, Fast and the Furious didn’t start the genre and it’s not going to end the genre.
The only comparison I would say is, “Yeah, we both have cars.” That’s it. It’s a gritty, super-fun movie and I’m excited for people to see it.
I’m curious what was your first reaction when someone – whether it was your agent or someone else – said to you, “Hey listen, there’s this video game that they’re going to turn into a movie… are you interested?”

No. No. My first impression was, “Absolutely not.” I just don’t know if I want to do that. They sent it to me anyway and I read the title page and  it said Need for Speed. “Oh man, I don’t know.
”And nothing against Fast and the Furious — those movies are super fun — but I just didn’t know if that was the right move for me after Breaking Bad.
But I read the script and I was so excited about it. I could relate to this character; I kind of had a personal connection with Tobey Marshall, the guy I play. And it’s very character driven. It’s very story driven. It has a lot of grit and lot of heart. Just so much emotion, and that’s why I jumped aboard.

Last October, following a test screening, Warner Bros.
(which is releasing Veronica Mars via its digital distribution division) agreed to pay for an additional day of shooting. Some people at the screening were confused by a subplot involving Veronica’s private investigator father Keith Mars (Enrico Cal antoi) and its connection to the film’s central mystery, which concerns the murder of a pop star.

In December, Thomas shot two scenes with Bell and Cal antoni to clarify the plot. These new moments allowed Thomas to fulfill a couple other desires, too, like depicting Veronica’s hometown of Neptune as a place marked by social injustice, stark class division, and corruption, which were key themes of the series.

One of the new scenes involves Veronica and Keith witnessing Neptune cops executing a dubious stop-and-frisk. “For a town that didn’t have much of a middle class in the TV series, there was a lot of middle class in the movie, and I wanted to correct that,
” says Thomas. “I wanted people to understand there was a dark side of Neptune, and I felt like we never saw any of that.Watch Veronica Mars  2014 Movie Online

” The scene also points to the future of Veronica Mars, as it dramatizes why Neptune desperately still needs heroes like Keith and Veronica. Thomas says the story — which takes place nine years after the events of the series and finds Watch Veronica Mars  2014 Movie Online Veronica in New York City and about to embark on a high-paying legal career — is all about reconnecting with her past and her true self and “accepting the mantle of her destiny.” All of this is expressed in the movie’s final image, which Thomas says was the starting point for his writing. “I worked backward from there,” he says.

GETEW ON YOUR TABLET: Subscribe today and get instant access! The new scenes also allowed Thomas to get more of the Keith-Veronica relationship into the movie, which should make fans happy: Their father-daughter rapport — and the Bell-Calantoni chemistry — was one of the show’s great strengths. “The audience loves Keith and Veronica together. I mean, they will probably be lovers in the next movie,” jokes Bell. Watch Veronica Mars  2014 Movie Online

“That’s the type of feedback we get: Put them together, put them together, put them together!” In addition to these new scenes, Warner Bros. asked for (and paid for) a prologue narrated by Veronica that sums up her life so far (i.e., the premise and arc of the series).
Watch Veronica Mars  2014 Movie Online
The objective: To bring fans up to date and make the movie accessible to newcomers who think a marshmallow is just something you put in hot chocolate. Says Thomas Gewecke, Warner Bros.’ chief digital officer: “I think it’s also going to appeal to a broader audience of people who maybe aren’t familiar with Veronica Mars but have heard about it.
We’re excited about the prospects for it.” There’s something else Warner Bros. paid for, too:
The incentives of T-shirts, autographed memorabilia, hometown premieres and more that Thomas promised fans for donating to the Kickstarter fund.

Last spring, it was reported that 30 percent of the $5.7 million raised via Kickstarter would be used to bankroll these rewards themselves.
The cost is about the same, but Thomas says Warner Bros. ultimately picked up the tab and hired a fulfillment house to execute the labor of packaging and shipping hard items. “People should not be under the misconception that Warner Bros got this movie for free,” says Thomas.
“The money we raised went a long way to shooting the picture, but Warner Bros. is in for millions and millions of dollars.

” Now the big question is this: Will Warner Bros. will open up its wallet and pay for more Veronica Mars? Because while Thomas and Bell won’t rule out another Kickstarter campaign, they would rather spare fans the pressure and expense and have the studio finance future adventures with Veronica, be it films or a Netflix series.
Both Bell and Thomas have other ongoing projects or potential ongoing projects. Bell stars in the Showtime series House of Lies and says she’s as passionate about that and committed to that as Veronica Mars; Thomas is shooting a pilot for a new CW series called Zombie.

So it’s hard to imagine either will have time in the near future to organize another Kick starter campaign in addition to writing and shooting a sequel.

“I know what number we have to hit to do it again [with Warner Bros. paying for it]. I know the internal conversations,” says Bell, who declined to divulge said number. “
I think we can do it. I have confidence.

So I am not too pessimistic about this being the last round.” In the meantime, we’ll always have the TV series, as well as a new line of novels that will continue Veronica’s saga.
The first title, The Thousand Dollar Tan Line, hits in March. Thomas says the books should be considered canon:
”It would be my hope that, if we got to do any more movies, either these books could be turned into movies, or that the events in these books are reflected in whatever future projects we do.”
